Examination Scheme & Marking Pattern
The selection parameters detailed within the SSC CGL 2026 Notification consist of a two-tiered Computer-Based Test configuration followed by the mandatory Data Entry Speed Test (DEST).
Tier 1 Exam Pattern (Qualifying Nature)
Tier 1 contains 100 objective Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying a total of 200 marks, to be completed in an aggregate time allocation of 1 hour.
Sections Covered: General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 Qs), General Awareness (25 Qs), Quantitative Aptitude (25 Qs), and English Comprehension (25 Qs).
Negative Marking: 0.50 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response.
Note: Tier 1 scores serve purely as a qualifying filter; these marks are not calculated into final merit list processing.
Tier 2 Exam Pattern (Merit-Based)
Tier 2 serves as the core evaluation mechanism for final rank selection. It now evaluates common candidates through Paper 1 (comprising Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning, English Language, General Awareness, and a Computer Knowledge Module). Specialized statutory posts require taking Paper 2 (Statistics for JSO) or Paper 3 (Finance/Economics for AAO).
